ABOUT

Nicholas Bolton is the engineer at Holy Tapes Mastering.

He studied audio engineering at Northeastern and Rutgers Universities. While touring in bands like this one and this one, he recorded local rock bands and ran live sound for DIY spaces and theaters in NYC.

Nick started Holy Tapes in 2012 to help local bands finalize albums affordably. He’s worked with many bands, record labels, and indie film production crews since. After starting the studio at In The West, he subsequently moved to a new space in Jersey City where he works now.

Besides mastering, Nick is also the Sound and Video Supervisor at NYU Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts, where he’s worked with notable acts such as David Byrne, Rosanne Cash, The Lovin' Spoonful, Oliver Lake, Glenn Kotche (Wilco), Carter Burwell, Lenny Pickett (SNL) and John Robinson.

He still works as a freelance theater systems consultant, sound designer and technician for several Off-Broadway and experimental theaters in NYC, and also volunteers for a non-profit animal rescue.

He currently creates modular synth + tape loop music under the names Moss Music and Psych Byke
